This leading energy organisation is currently recruiting a senior lawyer to join its in-house Legal Team on a temporary basis. The role is FTC for 12 months and its purpose is to provide professional legal advice on a variety of in-house corporate and commercial matters, as part of the General Counsel & Company Secretary functions.

Key tasks will include:

  • Advising on corporate governance and compliance; statutory, regulatory reporting.
  • Advising on Group corporate legal matters.
  • Undertaking general Company Secretarial duties (public and private company matters), including acting as secretary to certain Board committees and/or Executive groups.
  • Providing oil & gas and corporate legal advice within the Legal Department (including in respect of asset/corporate purchases and disposals, farm-ins/outs, disputes/litigation etc.) and drafting, analysis and negotiation of relevant agreements and carrying out of legal due diligence.
  • Drafting, analysis, negotiation of contracts (including oil and gas industry contracts such as Government Contracts, JOAs, farm-in agreements, drilling contracts and other service agreements).

The team is keen to speak with senior lawyers qualified in either Scotland or England (or dual qualified), with a minimum of 4 years’ PQE who have ideally worked in an energy role within an in-house environment. General corporate and commercial experience is essential, and previous experience of commercial contracts would be beneficial however is not essential.
