We have been instructed on this senior Environmental role with our client, a growing and dynamic global Law Firm. The firm is looking to recruit an established Lawyer to join its leading Environment Team, and the post can be based in either the firm’s Glasgow or Edinburgh office.

The main purpose of the role is to provide professional and strategic environmental advice to a range of clients including BP, Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, Drax Power Limited, Motor Fuel Group and ENVA. Main tasks will include:

  • Helping clients navigate regulatory investigations, civil penalty notices, and enforcement powers by SEPA and the EA.
  • Providing guidance on various regulatory matters such as liability for remediation, nuclear regulations, water licensing, waste management, environmental permits, and more.
  • Assisting corporate, restructuring, property, projects, and finance teams with environmental issues during transactions, such as contaminated land liability and permit transfers.
  • Offering advice on achieving net zero goals, carbon reduction, biodiversity preservation, and natural capital management, including nature-based solutions, offsetting, and compliance with EU/UK ETS regulations.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a minimum of 7 years’ PQE with experience of environmental litigation and/or contentious environmental work, gained in either a large regional or national practice.

This role provides an opportunity to delve into a broad spectrum of environmental and regulatory concerns, encompassing both contentious and non-contentious issues across the UK.
