Our client, an international financial services organisation is seeking an experienced Technology & Commercial Lawyer to join its high‑performing legal team in Glasgow. The team supports a wide range of commercial, innovation, technology, and data‑related activities.

The role involves advising on complex commercial arrangements, technology initiatives, regulatory matters, and cutting‑edge innovation projects.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in helping the organisation manage legal and reputational risks across commercial technology and data operations, while working closely with business teams to support strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement legal strategies that support effective risk management and regulatory compliance.
  • Provide legal advice across commercial, technology, data licensing, real estate, and sponsorship matters.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial and technology contracts, including complex market data vendor agreements.
  • Advise on licence rights, data usage, redistribution rights, and restrictions relating to AI technologies.
  • Support and lead transactional matters for market data and technology‑related activities.
  • Conduct legal research to monitor changes in legislation that impact commercial and technology operations.
  • Prepare and deliver training on legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and communicate relevant legal risks, ensuring they are reflected in internal policies and controls.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the organisation, offering strategic legal insight.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement, process optimisation, and governance enhancements.

The ideal candidate is a UK‑qualified (or equivalent) lawyer with strong commercial and technology contracting experience, preferably within financial services. You should be confident negotiating complex market data and vendor agreements and have solid knowledge of licensing, data distribution, and AI‑related contractual issues. You will perform well in a fast‑paced, stakeholder‑focused environment and show a genuine interest in emerging technology and innovation. Experience with regulatory frameworks, tech‑related transactions, and areas such as process improvement or market data vendors will be an advantage.
