We are currently recruiting a Lawyer for an exciting in-house opportunity with our client, MDDUS, a Glasgow-based mutual organisation supporting healthcare professionals across the UK. This role sits within a specialist team handling high-value, complex negligence claims in both the Sheriff Court and the Court of Session. The position is full-time and permanent, with hybrid working available.

The role will focus primarily on clinical negligence litigation and regulatory proceedings. Key responsibilities include advising on civil claims, responding to fitness to practise investigations by regulatory bodies, preparing for tribunals and inquiries, and providing general legal advice. The successful candidate will manage their own caseload, contribute to internal legal training initiatives, and collaborate closely with colleagues across medical, dental and legal teams.

Applications are welcomed from candidates with a minimum of three years’ PQE and experience in clinical negligence, with a strong working knowledge of Sheriff Court and Court of Session procedure. Ideally, candidates will have experience with one or more clinical healthcare regulators (or other professional regulators). Experience in catastrophic injury cases is desirable, and the team is also open to considering personal injury lawyers with an interest in clinical negligence work. Excellent stakeholder management skills, professional discretion, and a collaborative approach are essential.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic in-house legal team within a supportive, values-led organisation.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and in addition, MDDUS offers a range of benefits to employees including but not limited to:

  • 15% non-contributory employer pension contribution
  • 27 Days Annual Leave per year
  • 8 Bank Holiday days per year (in addition to annual leave allocation)
  • Private medical cover for employees (option to cover immediate family at a cost)
  • Home and office flexibility
  • Holiday Buy and Sell scheme
  • Group Life Insurance
  • A range of additional voluntary benefits
  • Employee Assistance program (EAP) to support wellbeing and remote GP services
  • Numerous employee engagement initiatives
