The importance of good work/life balance – FWA

Nov 2023

GETTING THAT WORK/LIFE BALANCE RIGHT

At FWA, we understand the importance of a good work/life balance, and we as a team, are lucky to be able to implement this on a day-to-day basis. Not only can good work/life balance help productivity within the business, but it also helps improve mental health, reduces stress and boosts levels of job satisfaction in employees.

So, what is work/life balance?

Work-life balance refers to the time and effort you dedicate to your job and the time and energy you allocate to your personal life, family, and other non-work activities. Achieving a healthy work-life balance is essential for overall well-being and satisfaction. It involves managing your professional responsibilities in a way that allows you to enjoy and fulfill your personal and family life.

We have listed some useful tips below on how to maintain a healthy work/life balance –

IMPROVE YOUR TIME MANAGEMENT – we are ALL guilty of this, aren’t we? Hitting the snooze button repeatedly, making us feel more tired rather than refreshed and having to rush out the door feeling unorganised… sound familiar? Managing our time wisely can help reduce stress levels, increase our happiness, and give us more time to spend with loved ones.

AVOID STAYING LATE IN THE OFFICE – studies prove that staying late at the office neither increases productivity nor helps with workload; they also show that continuous late nights are bad for our health and well-being; we also miss out on our hobbies, meeting up with friends or spending time with our family, which can cause breakdowns in relationships.

EMBRACE HYBRID WORKING – before the Covid-19 pandemic, working from home was pretty much non-existent… nowadays it is very much the norm, especially hybrid working which is a mixture of both office and home working. Being able to work from home a few days per week can be extremely helpful in managing day-to-day tasks such as childcare and chores, also it provides more time for health and wellbeing activities due to there being no commute. It is very important to create healthy boundaries between work and down-time.

We are currently working with a number of clients on roles that offer great flexibility and working from home options. If you are a qualified lawyer looking for change and considering making your next move; do not hesitate to get in touch with either Frasia, Cameron, Teddie or Steph to have an initial and confidential discussion.
