This public sector body is recruiting two interim Assistant Solicitors to join its investigation for a duration of at least 12 months.  This is a rare opportunity to support a high-profile Public Inquiry investigating an important aspect of the Scottish criminal justice system.  Main duties will include:

  • Assisting with the redaction and disclosure team
  • Reviewing and analysing any recovered evidence
  • Taking statements from witnesses
  • Identifying and recovering evidence
  • Preparing submissions for the Chair of the Inquiry
  • Liaison with the solicitors representing the core participants

To be considered for this role, you should be a qualified solicitor and possess excellent attention to detail and interpersonal skills as they are essential to this role.  Previous experience of working in a Public Inquiry is desirable but not essential.  The role is based in Edinburgh but hybrid working will be available and candidates seeking part-time work (3-4 days) are also encouraged to apply.
