The University of St Andrews, the third oldest University in the English speaking world, has created an exciting new role for a Chief Legal Officer.
This entirely new role represents an excellent opportunity for a very experienced individual with legal qualifications to help shape and deliver Human Resources, Staff Development, Equality and Diversity, wide-ranging issues of compliance, with an evolving role in governance and certain elements of planning across a complex business.
The ideal candidate will have gained the following experience within a well regarded commercial law firm or in-house legal team:-
- Appropriate legal qualifications and experience in an area relevant to the tasks described above.
- Excellent skills in initiating Employee Engagement, Talent Management & Development and Leadership Development.
- Experience of generalist HR and Equality, Diversity and Compliance at a very senior level, plus a proven and demonstrable track record of success and preferably a background in Employment Law.
- Ability to translate and align business strategy into effective processes.
- Extensive experience as a relationship builder, with the ability to influence key stakeholders allied to excellent communication skills.
- Project management and consulting skills underpinned by high intellect and sound judgment, demonstrated by positive results.
- Experience of leading evidence-based planning at a high level.
- Proven success in driving and supporting business change.
